Welcome to Author Offerings. I am so happy to have you here today and to find out what your author offerings are. What is your latest offering?
My newest book is Geography of Murder, a murder suspense mystery with a gay Santa Barbara detective and the ex-con he gets involved with. There's nothing more forbidden to a cop than convicted felon.
What is Geography of Murder all about?
The protagonist, Jason Zachary, wakes up one morning to find himself in bed with a dead man he doesn't know. The police are there to arrest him and he can't remember what happened. Was he drugged? Is someone trying to frame him or did he commit this horrible crime? The victim is a known pedophile who was never charged so in some eyes Jason performed a public service. But Alexander Spider, the detective investigating the murder, knows something isn't right. And it's not just the fact that he find himself feeling a powerful attraction to the young man who is poison fruit for a cop. Or is it? Along the way Spider try to untangled the mystery behind the first murder, which is followed by a second until the end when the Jason may be the final victim and only Spider, who has fallen for him, even knowing it is wrong, can save him.
That sounds very exciting! How did you come up with the idea?
I first came up with the image of this guy rolling over in bed one morning and finding himself bumping into the body of a corpse he doesn't know. Then he gets arrested by a very sexy cop and the attraction and sparks between then is immediate. But they both carry baggage and secrets that may destroy not only any hopes of a relationship but much more. The rest grew as I wrote it. I didn't plot this one at all, I just sat down and wrote and three weeks later I had the first draft of a 73,000 word book.
Is this your first author offering, or do you have other books the readers should know about?
I'm the author of two previously published books, L.A. Heat and the sequel L.A. Mischief. Both novels deal with LAPD homicide detective David Eric Laine and Chris Bellamere who meet in L.A. Heat and become lovers. Their relationship is a rocky one and continues in L.A. Mischief and beyond. I've also written a few short stories out in various anthologies.
What can we expect from you in the future, P.A. Brown?
Later this year the third L.A book will be released. L.A. Boneyard is a full blown thriller where David pursues the brutal killers of three pregnant Ukrainian women involved in human trafficking. Following that will be Between the Darkness and the Light another novel set in L.A and another cop and his artist lover. Later this year a novella, Angel Light will be out in the anthology To Die For, a ghostly tale that will bring real chills to you.
Thank you for joining me. Is there anything else you'd like the readers to know?
If you like your mysteries a little darker and a little gayer and you can handle the heat, come on in and test the waters. I guarantee you won't get burned. Much.
